BIO for VP Internal Candidate Dustin Mantha

Hey there! My name is Dustin Mantha and I am running for the position of Vice President Internal in the upcoming NUSU elections. I have attended Nipissing University for the past four years and am currently working on a history and political science double major. I have lived in my hometown of Ottawa with my parents and younger sister all of my life with the exception of my time spent at Nipissing.

As Vice President Internal my responsibilities would include overseeing Nipissing’s student clubs, the creation of the student handbook and maintaining as well as building on the NUSU website. Furthermore, and perhaps one of my most important responsibilities would be representing the students when dealing with any academic grievances they may have as well as sitting on various boards and committees.

My aspirations as VP Internal include the introduction of a forum to the website in which students could become more informed and involved with their executives, a club pup to provide more fundraising for the student clubs, the furthered use of video conferencing to provide more courses to the North Bay and Muskoka campuses, the removal of the withdrawal status from student transcripts and the introduction of electronic and or paper billing for easier record keeping to name a few. If elected VP Internal, I would be more then capable to provide the students with the attention and representation they deserve. Over my four years I have been very involved with students most notably through my experiences in the last three years as a frosh leader. This experience has allowed me to not only get to know countless students on a personal level but to also gain an extensive knowledge of various student union activities.
