My Name is Alex Fielding and I am your 2010-2011 Vice President Internal. I am going into my fifth year of a double major in Geography and History and am here to work tirelessly towards providing my best efforts as VP Internal, a student leader and as your friend. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all incoming and returning students. I am optimistic that this year will exceed everyone’s expectations.
As your VP Internal, there are numerous responsibilities outside of acting as a liaison between the student body and the administration which include student concerns surrounding academic issues. If you need to appeal a grade, or have an issue with a faculty member, please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can work together and resolve the issue. I will be able to provide you with further information regarding the appropriate method of action surrounding your academic issues and needs. Getting involved within the school is an integral part of a student’s experience and growth while attending Nipissing and a great way to do so is through joining a club. As I am overseeing all NUSU clubs, I will be able to provide you with the resources and information to start or join a club. Club Daze will be running October 4-7 and will be your opportunity to either showcase your club or get involved with one. If you wish to start a club, all you need is 10 students, to complete and submit the application package (you can pick up at NUSU) and then you can qualify for $200.00 in funding!
I’ve also designed the student handbook, and maintain our website! If there are ever any questions with anything concerning academic policies, buying used books, frosh week etc. almost anything can be found at: www.nusu.com or you can contact me at any time. VP Internal sits on many governance committees of the University, as an academic Senator, and an official observer on the Board of Governors. It is on these committees that your voice is represented through NUSU.
Lastly, I would like to encourage all of you to get involved, come in and visit us in the NUSU office and have a great year. Remember that your University experience can be like no other, if you choose for it to be.
