Hello Nipissing U!
My name is Trina Prince and I am your VP Student Life for this school year of 2010/2011! (I put an emphasis on your because I am here for you at all times). First and foremost I want to wish you the very best this year, whether you are just starting your Nip career, an upper year or are here for your Eddie, Masters or Graduate year. Nipissing University has so much to offer you and it is truly what you make it.
Ever since grade 5, I have wanted to come to Nipissing because of the comic strip For Better or For Worse; definitely the best decision I have ever made. I am finishing up my fourth year in a double major with English and Religion. Over the past four years I have been extremely involved in many aspects of the school, including being VPSL last year for 2009/2010. I am excited to be using this experience to help me grow even more this year on NUSU to make it phenomenal for all of you: the students.
As Student Life, I started off the year organizing and planning frosh week, the theme being CLASH OF THE CLIQUES. This was a great opportunity for first years to start their university experience with a phenomenal week.
As the year continues I will be working on planning Student Life activities and events. This allows you to take a break from the school part of Nip and have fun while learning as well. Nipissing has great spirit and student involvement and I really want both the university and North Bay community to see this. I will be working hard to support our Lakers, work with different groups on campus to promote student life, plan formals, and run events for everyone to participate in. The Student Food Bank is also another one of my responsibilities and I wish to keep this always stocked with plenty of food, as it is a great resource for all students of both NUSU and CSRC.
I am always open to suggestions, ideas, comments and questions about this year, so please feel free to come and talk to me whenever you like. I am here 24/7 for the students and want to do anything I can to make sure the upcoming year is full of spirit and amazing memories that will last a “Lifetime”.
